Description

Up for auction is a superb and rare photo of
the great Scott Parker with his Harley-Davidson XR 750 factory racing bike.
Dirt track racing is a tough and demanding
game. These days, but in the past as well. Its practitioners are a hearty
breed. They have a few heroes, Scott Parker is definitely one of them.
Before he went professional he was one of the
most dominant forces ever in amateur racing. In 1979, aged 17, he became the
youngest rider ever to gain eligibility for the A.M.A. Camel Pro Series Dirt
Track racing. He won two Nationals during his rookie season. He gained a
reputation as a fearless competitor who was almost impossible to beat when
everything clicked.
The HD
XR750 is without doubt Harley-Davidsons most successful racing motorcycle ever.
It still is an all-conquering XR750 dirt track race bike. The XR750 first raced
in the
United States
national series in 1972. The bike has achieved phenomenal success on the
US
oval dirt
track race circuit including three successive national victories from 1976 to
1978 for Jay Springsteen and five in a row for Scott Parker from 1994 to 1998. The
H-D XR 750 was made even more famous by Evel Knievel. Knievel not only raced
the bikes, it was an XR750 that he used for most of his spectacular record
breaking jumps.
The bike
is still going strong today, in the year 2000 the AMA (American Motorcyclist
Association) championship was again won on a Harley-Davidson XR750, this time
the winning racer was Joe Kopp. A shake-up in the sport for 2001, which allowed
1000cc entries, presented a new challenge for the standard setting XR750, but
its superior handling ability and proven reliability was often enough to beat
the competition.
It is
a very nice
non period
photo that reflects a great era in Harley
motorcycle racing history in a wonderful way, it definitely is a classic shot.
It is rare to obtain a photo like this, especially because of the nice large
format of approx. 8″ x 11″ (20 x 28cm), which makes it perfect for
framing.
It is great the way it is, and would look gorgeous when framed. Take a look at our
other Harley Davidson and other motorcycle photo’s. They would look great
framed together!
Shipping costs will only be $ 7.00 regardless of how many photos you
buy.   For 5 or more photos, shipping is free!
